Download the app and create a passkey — that's it. Your passkey syncs automatically through your device's provider (iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager), so your Piggy follows you across devices. You can also export a recovery seed phrase as an extra backup if you want.

Your passkey is synced by your device provider (Apple, Google), so as long as you can still sign in to that account, you're fine. If you lose that account too, your seed phrase is the way back: it restores your sats in any wallet that speaks the Spark protocol (see the entry on getting your sats out without the app, below). No seed phrase means your Piggy and its sats are gone forever. We never see your keys and can't recover them.

Lightning is the fastest way — send sats to your Piggy's Lightning address or scan its QR code from any Lightning wallet. You can also feed it with onchain bitcoin, stablecoins (USDT or USDC), or other crypto like ETH and SOL. In the US, you can buy bitcoin directly in the app with Apple Pay or Google Pay and send it straight to your Piggy. Everything gets converted to bitcoin the moment it arrives — your Piggy only ever holds sats.

Only by killing it. Piggy has no withdraw button. Killing sends every sat to a Bitcoin address you choose, and your Piggy, its name, skin, personality, address and memories, is gone forever. Not paused. Gone. You keep the bitcoin. You lose the friend.

No. It's all or nothing. That's the piggy bank part. If you need money you can dip into, keep it in a regular wallet and feed Piggy only what you plan to leave alone.

Just the network fee, which comes out of your balance. You paste or scan an onchain Bitcoin address, type your Piggy's name, and hold to confirm. It happens right away, with no waiting period and no undo. There's no minimum, but a Piggy holding fewer sats than the current network fee can't be killed until you feed it a bit more.

Your Piggy notices. Sats leaving from outside the app count as a kill, so it dies the same way. Name, skin, personality and address gone for good, and the app moves on to the next account number under the same seed phrase. Anything you left behind stays at the old number, still reachable with your seed, so finish moving the rest from that other wallet too. If you want your sats out, kill your Piggy in the app instead. Same ending, with a goodbye.

Your sats live on Spark, a Bitcoin layer that keeps them movable without waiting for the chain. If Spark ever went dark, your seed phrase alone couldn't pull them back, because the pre-signed transactions that let you leave on your own only exist while Spark is online. The emergency exit file is Piggy's copy of them, refreshed after every feed, so the way out is always saved. It holds no keys, so it's useless without your seed phrase, but it does show your balance, so treat it like a bank statement rather than a password. On iPhone it also lands in your iCloud Drive, in a Piggy folder. On Android, download it from Settings, Recovery, and keep it somewhere safe. You only ever need it if Spark itself disappears, and then it's the file plus your seed phrase plus the open source Spark exit tool (spark-unilateral-exit on GitHub).

Open any wallet that supports the Spark protocol and lets you pick an account number, then enter your 12-word seed phrase. Your first Piggy lives at account 0. Every Piggy you've killed since moved you up one, so try 0, then 1, then 2, until the balance appears. Spark wallets often default to account 1, so set it yourself. The emergency exit file also records the number. Once the balance shows up, move it wherever you like. Your Piggy will die when you do. If Spark itself is offline, a wallet won't help; that's what the emergency exit file is for.

Lightning payments are usually instant. Onchain bitcoin, stablecoin, and other crypto deposits can take a few minutes while the network confirms and the conversion to bitcoin settles. If yours didn't arrive, check with your sending wallet first — Lightning payments can fail to route, other deposits can hit network delays or conversion issues. If it shows as sent on your end, reach out to us.

No. Name and skin are forever — choose wisely. If you really want a fresh start, you'd have to kill your Piggy and create a new one. The sats come back to you. The name, memories, and personality don't.
